You have probably been reading my blog for a while now, so you know that I sell Notion templates and ebooks on Gumroad. Today I want to tell you the whole story of how I went from making $100 to $5,000 by selling Notion templates. It wasn’t easy, but here’s what happened.
Discovering the potential of Notion templates
One day, while scrolling through LinkedIn, I saw a post from someone who said they were making a lot of money selling Notion templates. I was interested to find out more and also kind of thought it wasn’t true.
I downloaded Notion and at first didn’t get what the templates were for or how they worked. It was only after I figured out how to “duplicate” them that I saw their potential. You can copy a template into your own workspace and use it however you want!
The very first thing I found was this freebie on Easlo’s Gumroad shop—it’s a guide that shows you how to be a Notion creator step by step! I became obsessed with the app and followed all the online communities. I always looked up what people were asking for and how I could reach as many users as possible.
Making my first sale: The initial breakthrough
I worked really hard for two weeks, and then I put up my first template: a life planner. I couldn’t believe it when someone bought it just six hours later. And I didn’t have anyone in my audience yet! Most people would say that this was just luck, but I had been researching and testing the market for a long time.
People who say that it’s easy to make money online are lying to you. A lot of the time, it’s even harder than making money through traditional jobs. But if you work hard and do things the right way, you will find success.
Gaining momentum: My first boost
After traveling for two months, I released my first paid product on Product Hunt. I worked hard to get featured in their newsletter, which earned me my first $100 on Gumroad. I also got a lot of email signups through Product Hunt, maybe 1. 8k.
This was really helpful for selling my templates. I made around $300 by the end of the first month selling the Notion template.
Reaching $1,000 a month: A milestone achievement
Something important happened to me in December 2023. I worked hard every day for seven months, and at the end of it all, I had made $1,000 in one month. I wanted this goal very much, and reaching it was a turning point in my life.
So far, I’ve made over $6,000 from selling Notion templates in my shops. It’s been an amazing experience that has taught me a lot.

If you want to begin your own journey, good luck. Keep in mind that success doesn’t happen immediately; you have to put in time, effort, research, and a willingness to learn and change. However, if you work hard enough for it, you can make all of your dreams come true.
